Gardening Jobs for January
January can be a bleak time in the garden, cold damp days plenty of rain and generally not a nice time to be out.
But, there is so much that can be done and all it takes is the strength to pull on your wellies and a warm coat. Once your out there and pottering about, turning the compost and digging over the veg plot you soon forget how cold and damp and horrible it is.
Jobs that can be done this month include, but are not limited too…
- Turning Compost
- Preparing the ground ready for planting when the weather improves
- clearing fallen leaves from lawns
- any hard landscaping can be done now ready to be planted in the spring
if you have a greenhouse then
- clean it ready for the new season
- repair any damage to it, and upgrade anything that you found lacking last season.
- ensure you have everything laid out how you want it inside
- start sowing early seeds and get things growing
if you don’t have a greenhouse, now is a great time to get one and get it sited ready for spring.
